Helena Johard is a visual artist and stem cell scientist based in Stockholm. She has graduated from Environmental Art Department, Glasgow School of Art and also has a PhD in biology. Helena Johard uses her art practice as a subjective and irrational research tool to investigate her perception of reality where unexpected readings and reflections are woven together to new truths. She uses drawing and painting to directly and intuitively explore new readings, where ideas are further taken into the public by performances. In contrast to the rational and objective boundaries defining science, her artworks suggest sites for emotions and subjectivity.
