TOGETHER ELSEWHERE

Together Elsewhere is a monthly performance series organized by PAB - Performance Art Bergen (as part of PAB Open Session*) and PANCH - Performance Art Network Switzerland for online live streaming** by Mediathek of the Academy of Art and Design, University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), Basel. Started from July to November 2021 if successful the project will be continue in 2022.

Together Elsewhere is a performance art project which two artists, one from PAB and one from PANCH, perform at the same time with the same materials and the same type of space but in different location.

Intention The concept of sharing time or being together as a performance artist during COVID19 pandemic to me it seems almost impossible. Performance artists thrive by their connection with others. How can artists keep their practices in live performance and how can we meet other artists and learn from each other? Also how can we reach a wider audiences? Focusing on sharing real time I’ve proposed this project, which is now coming to fruition in collaboration with Gisela Hochuli (member of PANCH), Tabea Lurk (Mediathek FHNW, Basel) and Nicole Boillat (Graphic Designer).

The artists
The artists are invited in PAB-Norway via an open call and in PANCH-Switzerland by the performers themselves according to the principle of the relay.

Performance Space
Together, the artists will choose the same type of space to perform. For example white cube, gallery space, domestic space, urban garden, mountain, waterside .. etc.

Materials
The pair will choose materials of their choices so each artist select 3 materials and the other will try to obtain the same. Both will have 6 materials which are the same or as similar as they can find.

Time
The artists will choose a performance time; beginning and the end with agreement from the technical supporter.*** Duration of all performance is 30 minutes during weekday (Monday to Friday). The live streaming will be shared by PAB AND PANCH on their websites and social medias.

Streaming
The performance will be streaming live on the screen side by side, using Zoom application. The streaming as well as the archiving of the performances will be done by the Mediathek of the Academy of Art and Design, Basel.

Documentation
Apart from the zoom archive which recorded by Mediathek FHNW, artists can document their performance separately. The artists can also share the document with Mediathek FHNW which will publish the document on its website.

*PAB Open Session is a performance in public spaces, inspired by Bbeyond's monthly meetings in Belfast. The concept is inclusive and open, so that artists can have an arena to test new ideas - and work freely with their intuition, alone and with others. We also focus on stimulating and promoting exchanges between different fields and disciplines - artists, dancers, musicians, actors, vocalists and above all those who cross all these art forms and improvise interdisciplinary and interpersonal.

**Live streaming is when the streamed video is sent over the internet in real time, without the first being recorded and stored.
